VietGAP stands for Vietnamese Good Agricultural Practices that basing on 4 criteria:
- Standard for production technology
- Food safety, including measures to ensure no chemical contamination or physical contamination when harvesting.
- The work environment aims to prevent the abuse of peasant labor.
- Product Traceability. This criterion enables to identify the hazards from production to consumption.
VietGAP is the food safety inspection program throughout the food from farm preparation, cultivation and harvesting, post-harvest, storage, including related factors such as environmental, chemicals, plant protection drugs, packaging and even the working conditions and welfare of workers in the farm.
VietGAP Certification is to assess and assert that organization’s products are manufactured or processed in accordance with the standard Vietnamese Practice good agricultural production.
GOOD AGRICULTURE PRACTICE
In March 04, 2013, Department of Cultivation, Ministry of Agriculture Rural Development issued the decision 72/QĐ-TT-QLCL to assign Vietnam Certification Centre (QUACERT) as the organization certifies VietGAP for fruit & vegetables, tea, rice and coffee.
- Good cultivation practice for safe fruit & vegetables;
- Good livestock practice for safe tea;
- Good livestock practice for coffee;
- Good livestock practices for rice.
