Vietnam: energy-labeling is compulsory

Under the Law on Energy Efficiency and Conservation, since January 1, 2013, the producers, importers must seal energy label for some domestic and industrial appliances that using energy energy.

The group of industrial equipment includes distribution transformers and electric motors. This is intended to encourage high efficient energy using products, forward to stop the use of energy-consuming products; help consumers identify and select the energy saving products.

Domestic appliances includes straight tube fluorescent lamps, Compact fluorescent lamps, electronic ballasts, electronic fluorescent lights, air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, electric cooker, electric fans and television.
 
According to the Power Saving Office, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the energy label is not only an energy state management tool but also as a means to approach the market of manufacturers, importers of energy-using equipments. Energy label is the consumer-oriented tools for people to energy saving products.
